Yale Law professor tells Bemer judge that jury’s verdicts should be overturned

Lawyers for Bruce Bemer, the Glastonbury businessman who faces sentencing Monday on charges of patronizing a trafficked person and being an accessory to human trafficking, have filed with Danbury Superior Court Judge Robin Pavia a letter from a Yale law professor stating she made an error when explaining the law to the jury that convicted Bemner. To not throw out the conviction, Professor Wiliam Eskridge argues, would be a miscarriage of justice.
